SAJJAD HAIDER

 

Sajjad Haider did his M.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture, and B.Sc. (Hons.)Agriculture with Horticulture as major subject from UAF. He served Agriculture (Extension) Department, Government of Punjab for more than 37 years in senior positions. Whole experience revolves around working with the farming community in rural areas as horticulturist and agriculture advisor/trainer. During his professional career he remained in coordination with Government and non-Government organizations in order to alleviate poverty and enhance the living standards of farming community with the adoption of good agricultural practices (GAP) and through diversification of high value crops. He is an Agriculture advisor and trainer having expertise in community mobilization, capacity building, development of fruit nurseries, planning & establishment of orchards. He is also expert at  Vertical Farming. As Horticulturist in the Agriculture Department he successfully executed Fruit & Vegetable Development Project (FVDP) for twelve years. The project was aimed at introduction of tunnel technology and cultivation of Grapes in Punjab by organizing the farming community through Farmer Field School approach. He was also part of a four year project for Management of Fruit Fly to enhance the fruit production and export by controlling the Fruit Fly through non-conventional methods and led his team in Gujranwala Division. He also closely worked with National Rural Sport Program (NRSP) and ICARDA in a community based IFAD aided project “Barani Village Development Project (BVDP)” in Potohar area of 28488 kilometers that  lies between Indus River and Jhelum River stretching  from the salt range northward to the foot hills of Himalayas.
